Black Sabbath Guitarist Tony Iommi Diagnosed With Lymphoma

Mauvaise nouvelle pour le groupe britannique Black Sabbath! Son guitariste, Tony Iommi, vient d’apprendre qu’il souffre d’un Lymphome, un cancer du sang qui affecte le système lymphatique (rate, foie, poumons…). Toutefois, dans un post sur leur page officielle Facebook, le groupe a confié être optimiste concernant sa guérison et qu’il continuerait à travailler sur son prochain album, prévu pour l’automne prochain :

« Suite à la nouvelle concernant Toni Iommi de Black Sabbath chez qui le premier stade de lymphome a été diagnotiqué, ses camarades du groupe aimeraient qu’en ce moment tout le monde envoie des ondes positives au guitariste. Iommi est actuellement en train d’établir avec les médecins le meilleur planning pour son traitement—le «iron man» du Rock’n'Roll reste optimiste et déterminé à guérir efficacement et complètement.

Cette nouvelle tombe alors que Black Sabbath – Ozzy Osbourne (le chanteur), Tony Iommi (guitariste), Geezer Butler (basse) et Bill Ward (batterie) sont en train d’écrire et d’enregistrer leur premier album en 33 ans à Los Angeles (sortie toujours prévu cet automne) avec le producteur Rick Rubin. Maintenant ils iront en Angleterre pour continuer à travailler avec Tony. De plus amples informations seront disponible dès que possible.»

Bad news for the British band Black Sabbath ! Guitarist Tony Iommi has learnt that he is suffering from a lymphoma, a cancer of the blood that affects the lymphatic system (spleen, liver, lungs…). However, in a post on their official Facebook page, the band told that he is optimistic about his recovery and that he keeps working on their new album, of which the release is planned for this fall :

“With the news that Black Sabbath’s Tony Iommi has been diagnosed with the early stages of lymphoma, his bandmates would like everyone to send positive vibes to the guitarist at this time. Iommi is currently working with his doctors to establish the best treatment plan–the “IRON MAN” of Rock & Roll remains upbeat and determined to make a full and successful recovery.

This comes as Black Sabbath–Ozzy Osbourne (vocals), Tony Iommi (guitar), Geezer Butler (bass) and Bill Ward (drums)–are writing and recording their first album in 33 years in Los Angeles (still set for release this fall) with producer Rick Rubin. They will now go to the UK to continue to work with Tony. Further information will be released as it becomes available.”
