Metric Announce New Album

Les canadiens de Metric sortiront Synthetica le 12 juin prochain au Canada et aux Etats-Unis, les jours suivant surement pour l’Europe.

L’annonce fut faite sur le site officiel du groupe via une lettre postée par Emily, chanteuse.

Dans cette lettre adressée « à ceux qui la liront », Emily dresse une sorte de bilan sur la carrière du groupe avant d’annoncer la grande nouvelle que « ceux qui lisent » attendaient.
Toujours dans cette lettre, Emily dévoile que l’album est comme le point culminant de tout ce que le groupe a fait jusqu’à maintenant, qu’il sonne tel que leurs oreilles voulaient qu’il sonne. Les thèmes abordés y sont divers et variés mais peuvent se résumer par l’idée de se confronter à la réalité et d’en tirer une réflexion pour combattre la superficialité.

L’opus fut enregistré entre Toronto, dans leur propre studio, et New York. Il est produit par Jimmy Shaw et mixé John O’Mahony.

Emily finit par préciser qu’en dévoilant toutes ces infos d’un coup, elle espère ne pas avoir à faire d’interview du coup, et que des dates de concerts et autres news seront bientôt dévoilées.

Synthetica sortira donc le 12 juin prochain et fera suite à Fantasies, paru en 2009.

Metric‘s singer, Emily, has announced in an official statement that the band will release his new album Synthetica on June 12nd in Canada and the US. It will vary by up to a few days in the rest of the world.

Emily declared that the new record sounds like the culmination of everything they have done : « We’ve always had a sound in our heads that we hoped to realize and we finally heard it coming back out of the speakers this time. »

Recorded at their own studio, Giant, in Toronto, and at Electric Lady Studios in NYC, the album was produced by Jimmy Shaw and mixed by John O’Mahony.

Emily also explained that Synthetica is about « staying home and wanting to crawl out of your skin from the lack of external stimulation. Synthetica is about forcing yourself to confront what you see in the mirror when you finally stand still long enough to catch a reflection. Synthetica is about being able to identify the original in a long line of reproductions. It’s about what is real vs what is artificial. »
