Blink182 : Mark answers to angry European fans

Après l’annulation de ses dates en Europe pour cet été, Blink182 vient d’annoncer une tournée candienne en compagnie de My Chemical Romance, Rancis et Manchester Orchestra. Sans surprise, les fans Européens du groupe punk se sont inignés face à cette nouvelle. Pour expliquer cette decision, le bassiste Mark Hoppus a donc publié cette explication via sa page Facebook :

« Bonjour chers humains d’Angleterre et d’Europe. Je comprends votre confusion et votre frustration à l’annonce de cette tournée US. Voilàc e qui se passe. Cette tournée a été bookée EN MÊME TEMPS que les dates UK/Européennes, il y a longtemps. Nous n’avons PAS prévu ces dates après avoir décidé de reporter la tournée Européenne. L’idée était de terminer l’album, tourner en Europe puis revenir pour la tournée US. On a pris du retard sur l’album et nous avions encore besoin de trop de temps pour que la tournée Européenne ne soit possible.

Mais bon, c’est tant mieux parce que le meilleur de l’album s’est fait ces dernières semaines. Maintenant il y a une vrai deadline pour cet album et il sortira pendant cette tournée US. Voilà les nouvelles. Je comprends et partage votre colère après cette annulation. Comme on l’a annoncé, ça n’a pas été une décision facile à prendre. Pas du tout. Mais n’allez pas penser une seule seconde que nous avons préféré faire la tournée US plutôt que la tournée Européenne. Ca n’est pas le cas. Personnellement,  je suis pressé de revenir dans vos pays. Avec de nouvelles chansons et un nouveau show.

Et dernier point, Chelsea Football Club déchire. Ceux qui ne sont pas d’accord sont juste jaloux. Ou quelque chose comme ça. »

After cancelling their UK dates this summer, Blink182 have announced a canadian tour with My Chemical Romance, Against Me!, Rancid and Manchester Orchestra. This news has greatly disappointed and angered fans in Europe, that’s why Mark Hoppus published an explanation through his Facebook page :

« Hello fellow humans in the UK and Europe. I understand your confusion and frustration at hearing the US tour announcement tonight. Here’s what’s up. This tour was booked ALONGSIDE the UK/European dates, a long time ago. We did NOT book the US tour after deciding to postpone the UK/European dates. The plan was to finish the album, tour the UK/Europe, and then come back for the US tour. We ran late on when we thought we’d finish the album, and unfortunately the time we needed made the first leg impossible.

Hopefully it’s for the best, because some of the best work on the album is being done these past few weeks. Now there’s a hard deadline for the album to be turned in, and it will be released during our US tour. That’s what’s up. I get and share your anger at the postponement of the first leg of the tour. As we’ve said before, it wasn’t a decision lightly made. At all. But don’t think for a second that we decided to tour the US instead of the UK. It’s not the case. For me personally, I can’t wait to get back across the pond. With new songs and a new show.

And lastly, Chelsea Football Club rules. Those who disagree are just jealous, or something. »
