La Dispute : Big announcements coming

La Dispute vient de publier un message indiquant la fin de l’enregistrement de leur prochain album ainsi que des nouveautés à venir. Voici le message :

« Ca faisait un moment que je n’étais revenu ici et de cette manière.

C’est un peu stressant.

Stressant car je veux que ça soit si intéressant que ceux qui liront ça soient dépassés par leur excitation qu’ils l’écrivent à l’envers sur leur visages pour se rappeler de revenir ici, ou pour que ceux qui sont juste curieux l’écrivent sur une note quelque part. A cause du travail derrière tout ça. A cause de toutes les heures de préparation, toutes les heures d’écriture et puis enfin ce sentiment quand tout se rejoint ou quand ça sonne juste, ou quand quelqu’un en arrive à ce moment particulier et que tout le monde crie, ces sentiments. Parce qu’il a fallu que ce soit mixé en 5 jours. Parce que le mastering n’était pas au top. Parce que l’artwork n’était pas fait. Parce qu’on a passé plus d’une nuit dans un appartement sans meubles en essayant tant bien que mal de ne pas s’endormir. A cause du café. Du Red Bull. Parce que le vendeur de hot dog du coin était finalement ouvert. Parce que Popeye’s était fermé. Parce qu’il y a de la bouffe vegan au supermarché en bas de la rue. Parce que le Millénium market. Parce que Xzibit a enregistré ici. Parce que Dave Summers a conduit jusqu’à Chicago. Parce que tu dois faire tourner le disque pour que la Dreamcast fonctionne. Parce que Dave Summers a conduit jusqu’à New York. Parce que Joey et Andrew ont fait tellement. Parce que ça fait 3 ans, et on a mis tout ce qu’on avait dedans et c’est fini et c’est terminé. Parce qu’on veut que vous l’entendiez, au moins. Si vous ne l’aimez pas, ben… Vous ne l’aimez pas. Mais on veut que vous l’entendiez. Parce qu’on l’aime.

L’idée de départ était de faire un truc artistique et mystérieux pour attirer votre attention – une vidéo cool ou un truc comme ça – mais le temps ne nous a pas permis de le faire, et c’est probablement mieux comme ça. Pas besoin de déguiser la chose. Pas plus que ce que j’ai déjà fait. En plus, ceux qui veulent revenir reviendront peu importe ce que l’on fait ici et ce sont les gens que nous voulons le plus. Et donc voilà, désolé de m’être emporté :

Mardi de la semaine qui vient, nous fermerons le dernier chapitre de ce behind-the-scenes suivant la réalisation de notre nouvel album et commençeront le prochain chapitre avec une annonce très importante. En plus de tout ça, d’autres changements et surprises suivront. Donc revenez ici à ce moment là. Ce mardi, le 23.

La Dispute is teasing us with a message posted on their blog announcing that their record is ready and that big surprises are in store. Everything will be announced on Tuesday the 23rd. Here is the band’s message :

It’s been awhile since I’ve been here, particularly in this manner.

It’s a little stressful.

Stressful because I want to make it so astonishingly interesting that everyone who reads this will get so overwhelmed with excitement that they’ll write it backwards on their face to remember to come back or who cares just curious enough to consider coming back that they put a note in their phone or something.  Because of the work behind it. Because of all the hours of planning and all the hours of writing and then that feeling when it comes together or when sound is just right, or when someone hits that part and everybody shouts, those feelings. Because it had to be mixed in 5 days. Because the master wasn’t quite right. Because the artwork wasn’t done. Because we spent more than one night in an unfurnished apartment trying dear God to stay awake. Because of the coffee. The Red Bull. Because the food cart was finally open. Because Popeye’s was closed. Because there’s vegan food at the grocery store down the street. Because of Millennium market. Because Xzibit just recorded here. Because Dave Summers drove to Chicago. Because you have to spin the disc before the Dreamcast will play the game. Because Dave Summers drove to New York.  Because Joey and Andrew did so fucking much. Because it’s been 3 years and we put everything into it and it’s done now it’s over. Because we want you to hear it, at least. If you don’t like it, well, then you don’t like it. But we want you to hear it. Because we care about it.

The initial plan was to do something artistic and mysterious to cue you in—some cool video or something—but time didn’t allow for it and that’s probably for the best. No need to dress this up. Not anymore than I’ve already done. Plus, those who want to come back will come back regardless of what we do here, and those are the people that I want to come back the most. So here goes, and my apologies for getting carried away:

Next week Tuesday we’ll be closing the behind-the-scenes chapter of making a record and beginning the next one, the public one, with an important announcement. On top of that one, some other neat changes and surprises will accompany. So come back here then, this coming Tuesday, the 23rd.
